Lab rules and safety in RRL

RRL contains both equipment and chemicals that can hurt you so be careful! Everybody must go through the following training:

Users qualified to use the fume hood also need to be familiar with the following procedures:

General lab rules

  • No eating or drinking is allowed in the lab with the only exception of drinking water from a sealable water bottle.
  • The lab's first aid kit should be in room 0305 on the table next to the CNC mill.
  • Proper attire: full toed shoes and no loose clothing which can get stuck in moving parts and equipment.
  • Cabinets labeled as “Not for public use” should not be used or opened by users.
  • Ask the lab manager before handling any items that you are not sure if you may handle it.
  • Ask the lab manager for permission before you need to move things in/out of the lab.
  • Specialized tools of use to a particular experiment or use can be brought by the user to RRL. The user should notify the lab manager and if reasonable, the lab manager will provide storage space for such equipment while the related project is completed.
